Article VII - Ratification
PREAMBLE
We, the members of MATC's Rainbow Organization will
try to provide a safe, environment for Milwaukee Area Technical College's
gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and/or questioning students. We
will act as an information resource center, to provide, referrals for
gay and lesbian students who have fallen victim to harassment as a result
o their sexual orientation and to provide the general student population
with gay awareness. We will do so without regard to race, color, religion
creed, sex, sexual orientation age, handicap, arrest or conviction record,
veteran status, or any other protected class status.
ARTICLE I-MEMBERSHIP
The membership of MATC's Rainbow Organization shall
be open to all of the students of the Milwaukee Area Technical College
who wish to join.

ARTICLE
II-OFFICERS
Officers of MATC's Rainbow Organization shall consist
of a President, Vice-President Secretary, Treasurer, and Sgt. At Arms
who shall be elected at the second meeting of the fall semester. Each
officer shall be required to maintain a GPA of 2.0 or better and shall
carry at least 6 college credits or their equivalency. Each member may
hold the same office only one term.
Officers shall be elected from nominations from the
floor. They shall take office immediately and shall hold office until
their successors are duly elected. Midterm vacancies shall be announced
and immediately filled at the next meeting. Officers elected midterm
are eligible to run for the same office at the next general election.
The term OJ officer shall run from the beginning of the fall semester
to the end of the summer semester.

ARTICLE
III-FACULTY ADVISORS
No less than (2) two faculty shall be elected as
advisors. These faculty advisors shall be elected at the general election
in the fall semester. Whose duties shall be to advise the organization
of any policy matter, and shall be kept informed of all activities.

ARTICLE
IV-MEETINGS
General Assembly meetings shall be held at least
twice a month while school is in session. A quorum for each meeting
shall be 20% of the membership with the President and Vice-President,
if it is necessary to have any item voted on.

ARTICLE V-AMENDMENTS
This constitution may be amended by 2/3rds majority
vote of the members present. Notification of the pending vote must be
given at the meeting prior to voting.

ARTICLE
VI-IMPEACHMENT OF OFFICERS
The impeachment or removal of an officer will be
done by the following procedure:
1. A petition must be prepared by an initiation
member, which states reasons for the removal of a given officer from
that office. This petition must be signed by 51 % of the total membership.
2. The petition must be presented at the following
general assembly meeting and a copy is given to or sent to said officer.
3. The given officer is allowed to prepare a case
in his/her defense to be presented at the next meeting.
4. After the defense of the officer is given at
said meeting, a vote is taken. A 2/3rds majority of the members present
is necessary to remove said officer. The defense and voting must be
done at the meeting following the petition. If said officer fails
to appear for his/her defense, this shall be grounds for immediate
removal by 2/3rds majority vote of the members present.
5. If an officer willingly resigns in writing
or in a meeting before the members, this process does not need to
be completed.

VII-RATIFICATION
Ratification of President appointed committee chairpersons
is by majority vote of the members present.
